Emergências médicas em Medicina do Viajante
Resumo
Neste artigo são focados os principais problemas em medicina do viajante que possam necessitar de uma atuação médica de emergência. Febre no viajante é o primeiro alerta. A geografia médica, a epidemiologia, e uma anamnese cuidadosa que inclua o conhecimento sobre o contacto anterior com outras doenças febris tropicais, são fundamentais na caracterização da doença e da sua gravidade. Malária, arbovírus e vírus causadores de febres hemorrágicas, e ainda infeções virais e parasitárias do sistema nervoso central por helmintas ou protozoários, são alguns exemplos de agentes infeciosos ou doenças tropicais que podem evoluir como emergências médicas. Pela sua especificidade, e pela pouca informação que os clínicos têm sobre medicina aeronáutica, estão também incluídas neste texto as importantes emergências médicas a bordo, e os riscos que representam para quem viaja de avião.
