Efeitos não específicos das vacinas: revisão rápida dos estudos realizados nos países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa

Resumo

Introdução: Algumas vacinas parecem ter também efeitos para além daqueles nas doenças para as quais foram desenhadas, denominados de efeitos não específicos.

Objetivo: Identificar os estudos realizados nos PALOP sobre os efeitos não específicos das vacinas humanas e resumir os seus principais achados.

Métodos: Revisão rápida de estudos experimentais, coorte, caso-controlo e transversais indexados na Pubmed, Scopus ou LILACS sobre os i) efeitos não específicos de vacinas em ii) populações humanas de iii) Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Guiné Equatorial, Moçambique e/ou São Tomé e Príncipe. Síntese qualitativa dos resultados.
Resultados: 421 estudos recuperados, colhidos dados sobre 67. Destes, 66 foram realizados na Guiné-Bissau, eram prin- cipalmente estudos de coorte e experimentais e incluíam mais frequentemente a vacina do sarampo, BCG, DTP e VOP. Os efeitos não específicos estudados incluíam maioritariamente a mortalidade e a morbilidade.

Discussão: Os efeitos não específicos das vacinas são um tema relevante para a saúde pública global.
